Brian O. Owens


Owner & CEO of Perspective Safety Consulting

Brian Owens’ career in occupational safety & health and corporate learning has
spanned more than 16 years, encompassing many industries, including open pit
copper mining, industrial construction, aluminum extrusion, oil & gas, pipeline,
and heavy civil construction.
Additionally, Brian spent 4 years managing the risk control department for
a large insurance broker, specializing in captive insurance risk control consultation.
Brian has a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety & Health, and conceptualized the Perspective-Based learning strategy, as well as the Inversion risk management principles detailed in his book: Inversion and the Perspective-Based Safety Culture
Brian regularly consults companies on these tactics, as well as doing many high-profile speaking engagements every year, presenting on workplace culture, behavior,
and safety. In addition to being a frequent guest panelist at corporate learning and occupational safety and health seminars, he also presents at many private corporate functions every year.
Brian now resides in Phoenix, AZ with his family and enjoys the outdoors,
playing guitar and writing.

The
Musician
In his spare time, Brian enjoys playing the guitar and songwriting. He has been entertaining audiences with his folksy rendition of Americana for many years. He performs regularly around North Phoenix, and is the Sunday morning house musician at a North Phoenix restaurant.

Veteran
Brian is a combat veteran, having served active duty as a member of the Army's Corps of Engineers from 2000 to 2005. In 2004, he was deployed to Baghdad, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II.
